“The Race” limited edition giclee prints
Today I have released limited edition giclee prints of my latest painting entitled “The Race”. It portrays the 1961 Monaco Grand Prix, featuring the Ferrari 156 of Wolfgang von Trips on the downhill section between Mirabeau and the Station Hairpin.
This is the famous “sharknose” Ferrari that dominated in 1961 and won the World Championship in the hands of von Trips’ team-mate, Phil Hill. Von Trips himself came close to winning that year’s championship, he was leading in the points going into the Italian GP in September of that year but was killed in an accident.
The Ferrari 156 is in retrospect one the most iconic F1 cars, and yet all of the original cars were scrapped in 1963 in order to keep the technology behind them a secret. Only replicas now exist.
In the background of my picture is Jo Bonnier in a Porsche and Maurice Trintignant in the Cooper-Maserati.
The print is 14×14″, the original painting is just a little larger at 16×16″. The run is strictly limited to 30 prints only. You can buy prints on my eBay shop or my Etsy shop, or contact me directly.
I’ll be writing a post soon about the background to this painting, why I chose to paint it and how I went about it.
Awesome Dan I love this will discuss later.
